Oregon Travel Guide
Oregon holiday can be anything you want it to be or something you never imagined. Oregon is full of unique and exciting places to visit. Portland is the state's most populous city and one of America's best kept secrets. Coastal Oregon features 400 miles of Pacific coastline while the Willamette Valley is home to Eugene and the state's capital city of Salem.
The Willamette Valley was the 'Promised Land' for 80,000 pioneers and still is for visitors looking for Oregon's garden of earthly delights, including fruits, nuts, flowers and wine.
In the south you can expect a potpourri of natural and cultural wonders. You can tame the wild Rogue River on a rafter or relax with the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. And lovers of blue should definitely venture to Crater Lake to watch its ever-changing shades of sapphire, indigo and azure.
The centre of the state provides a year-round playground that gears up in winter for skiing on and around Mt Bachelor, while the rest of the time it's open season for fly fishing, hiking, rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, horse riding and playing golf. Highlights of the eastern area include the breathtaking Hells Canyon and equally grand Steens Mountain. And it's here that you can pick up the old Oregon Trail, or watch feisty bulls tossing cow-pokes in the air.
